Community Empowerment

We take an active role in the communities our farms are located in, as we strive to make a positive impact on people and our  surroundings. We engage with our neighbors to discuss improvement possibilities around our farms and implement safety and wellbeing measures.

We always give priority in hiring to members of the local community and always seek feedback so we can hear what is important to them. Our staff is active in community outreach efforts such as local donation drives, community projects and cooperatives because giving back and having harmonious, long term relationships within our community is important to us.

Women Empowerment

We believe that communities thrive when we elevate women’s strengths and skills in order for them to meet their personal goals.

We aim to help from within by promoting self-worth and autonomy for women. We are committed to hiring women to empower them economically.

Blooms Cut to Order

Our farms strive to minimize waste and practice sustainable methods by ensuring that our flowers are cut to order. This, among other sustainable and eco-friendly farming practices, guarantees the long-term viability of our business while minimizing adverse impacts.

Eco-friendly

Responsible Water Usage

We promote water self-sufficiency and help conserve water on our farms by replacing a significant part of our water needs with rainwater.
Our computerized drip-irrigation system ensures optimal usage, minimum waste and no runoff or contamination.

Health of Our Employees

The health and safety of our staff is always our top priority. Our employees receive free annual medical care and medication delivery at our on-site medical clinic.

Sustainable Packaging

Native Blooms is committed to using eco-friendly packaging. Our farms are one of the few that use recyclable materials in their packaging. 95% of what arrives at your door is recyclable. Our floral boxes and packaging adhere to international biodegradable criteria.

Quality Control

Integrated Pest Control

Our skilled agronomists have devised a rigorous integrated pest-management plan in keeping with Native Blooms’ mission to make a positive difference. We’ve analyzed and tweaked our strategy to ensure exceptional outcomes while protecting the environment and our employees’ health and safety.

We employ techniques like planting mint to repel aphids and other pests, as well as to ensure the quality and ideal hydration of the soil, in conjunction with Ecuadorian government-approved agrochemicals. Native Blooms has a strict policy against using Highly Hazardous Pesticides.

Composting

All of our green waste, both field and post-harvest, is processed through a contemporary composting system. To preserve healthy soils, this organic matter is permanently restored to the soil of our crops. It helps us to minimize the use of chemical fertilizers by more than 30% while still boosting the quality of our blooms. Our waste management program provides optimal recycling efficiency and nutrient re-incorporation into the soil.

Flowers For Kids

We are happy to be a sponsoring farm for the Flowers for Kids program which teaches participants of all ages how to appreciate, care for, and arrange flowers. The goal is to not only educate children about  flowers but also have them experience creating their own bouquets to take home.

Emotional Impact of Flowers

Flowers are nature’s simple solution to improving one’s emotional health. Being in the presence of flowers triggers happy emotions and heightens feelings of life satisfaction. Researchers found the link between flowers and life satisfaction in a 10-month study of participants’ behavioral and emotional responses to receiving flowers. The results show that flowers are a natural and healthful moderator of moods. They have an immediate impact on happiness, have a long-term positive effect on moods, make intimate connections, and lead to increased contact with family and friends. So not only do flowers make us happier, they have strong positive effects on our emotional well being.

Bee Colonies

We strongly believe in the importance of preserving the bees, as they’re a part of the biodiversity which we rely on for our survival.

That is why our farms have bee colonies in them, considering the important role they also play in pollinating the plants.

Dog Rescue and Shelter

Because we believe that animals deserve to have a safe space to grow in, at the Rosas del Cotopaxi farm we took in rescue dogs and provided them with shelter, food and everything in between so that they can be brought up in a pet-friendly environment.

Not only that, but the rescued dogs make for a great companion, since many studies showed that dogs make people happier, less stressed and more productive.
